Steel Board & Batten Siding Installation on Custom Barn in Manitou Beach, MI
We’re currently installing steel board and batten siding on a high-end custom barn in the Manitou Beach–Devils Lake area of Lenawee County, Michigan—and it’s starting to come together.
A Modern Take on a Classic Look
Traditional wood board and batten siding is a vertical exterior style made up of wide boards with narrow battens covering the seams. Originally used on barns and farm houses, it delivers a classic, textured look—but requires regular staining or painting to maintain.
For a more durable, low-maintenance finish, steel board and batten is the clear upgrade. This project features Rustic Red Crinkle steel panels, manufactured on-site by Stoll Metal Sales, giving it that timeless agricultural look with long-term performance. Paired with bright white steel trim, the contrast is clean, bold, and exactly what you want on a build like this—simple, sharp, and built to last.

Progress So Far
We’re currently working through the lower section of the barn. Once the windows are installed, we’ll move on to the upper section and begin tying everything together with custom trim details.
